29 Oct Can diabetes cause dental implants to fail?
At London Dental Specialists we care for patients with dental implants and place dental implants for patients who have diabetes.
If your diabetes is well controlled (HbA1c between 6.5- 7% or lower), then you are like every other non-diabetic patient who is undergoing dental implant treatment, i.e. your dental implants will be successful.
But if your diabetes is poorly controlled (HbA1c >10%) then the success rate of implants is likely to be poor (50% as opposed to 95%). If your diabetic control is moderate (HbA1c between 7% and 10%) the success rate of your dental implants will be uncertain but it is impossible to give a certain percentage figure.
