21 Dec Patient Story – Treating Gummy Smiles
By definition, a gummy smile is one where there is more that “normal” amount of gum on display when a patient smiles.
There are 3 main reasons why patients have gummy smiles and it is important to ensure that the right diagnosis has been made otherwise the treatment will be ineffective.
In this blog, we present a case where the patient had excessive bone and inadequate bone retraction and we treated her with crown lengthening surgery. The advantage of this procedure is that it is not painful, it is far more effective than gingivectomy or laser treatment and the results will last the rest of the patient’s life.
The patient was extremely happy.
