Sedation for implant surgery lets you have a missing tooth replaced without the anxiety that has kept you from doing it. Putting it off is common, and sedation is a clinical answer to it.
How long the appointment takes depends on the complexity of your case. We review your medical history and suitability at your first visit and plan from there.
Led by Dr Ope Sodeinde.

Implant surgery is planned, unhurried work, but for an anxious patient the length of the appointment is the problem. Our sedation dentistry in London options cover it: IV sedation and oral sedation in the practice, and general anaesthesia through a hospital pathway for patients who cannot be treated under conscious sedation. We plan every step of the surgery from your imaging before you arrive.

Dr Sodeinde assesses your clinical needs so the sedation matches the complexity of the surgery, and we quote only for the level of care your case requires. For patients who cannot be treated under conscious sedation, we arrange general anaesthesia in hospital. Patients with combined gum and implant needs can read about sedation for gum surgery. Every fee is itemised before you begin.

Leave your number and we will call you back. Nothing is booked until you say so.
We provide intravenous sedation for adults who feel a loss of control or fear the clinical environment. It is deeper than the nitrous oxide sedation for children we use for young patients, and it is a practical choice for anyone also having sedation for full-mouth treatment. A responsible adult must escort you home and help with your recovery. We review your medical history at the consultation.

We confirm that conscious sedation suits you. It is well suited to patients with a sensitive gag reflex or a long procedure ahead of them, and we check your medical history before setting the dose.
We decide how much sedation you need and, where one method is not enough, how methods can be combined; see combination sedation. We discuss the risks openly before you consent.
The clinician administers the sedation and then the local anaesthetic. You stay conscious but deeply relaxed while the implant is placed, and we monitor you throughout.
You stay in the practice until the sedation has worn off, then leave with written instructions and your companion. Alertness returns gradually over the following hours.
After the initial healing period we review how the implant is integrating. Fees for the sedation element are on our sedation dentistry costs in London page.
Every case begins with a complete consultation, a pre-assessment and a medical history review. The practice is led by Dr Ope Sodeinde, GDC-registered specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071). Sedation is administered by appropriately trained clinicians, and we monitor you throughout the procedure and during recovery at our Primrose Hill practice.
You must arrange for someone to accompany you home, and you must not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after sedation.

We confirm the sedation fee at your assessment, once the surgery is planned. The implants themselves are quoted separately and carry their own warranty terms; see our dental implants page.
It depends on the number of implants and the complexity of the surgery. We give you a timeframe at your consultation so you can plan your day and your escort.
Local anaesthetic numbs the area and the sedation keeps you deeply relaxed while still able to respond.
The sedation wears off after the appointment and has no effect on how the implant integrates. For a different kind of surgery, see sedation for wisdom teeth removal.
We settle the sedation method for your surgery at a clinical review of your medical history and anxiety level. You can see what happens at your sedation consultation and how to book.
