General dental treatments in London

General dental treatments range from a routine check-up to fillings, crowns and dentures. This page explains what each one is for, so you can see which is likely to apply to you before a clinical assessment with Dr Ope Sodeinde confirms it.

  • Primrose Hill, London NW1

Preventive and restorative care

The right treatment depends on what the examination finds. We chart your teeth and gums, take any x-rays needed and plan from that record rather than from a standard package.

Prevention starts with dental examinations and professional teeth cleaning. These two visits catch decay and gum disease early and remove the plaque and tartar that cause them.

When damage has already happened, we repair it. Decay and chipped teeth are restored with dental fillings. Where a tooth has lost too much structure for a filling, we fit a ceramic dental crown.

Crowns are designed from a digital scan of the tooth. For suitable patients we use CEREC technology to mill the crown in the practice and fit it in a single visit.

Common questions about general dental care

What types of general dentistry are there?

Preventive care (examinations, cleaning, x-rays, fluoride and sealants), restorative care (fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures), and treatment for specific problems such as abscesses and jaw pain. Our clinical lead is Dr Ope Sodeinde, GDC-registered specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071).

Which general dentistry option is right for me?

That depends on the examination findings and on what you want from treatment. We explain the options and their costs at the first visit; you can read about general and family dentistry costs in London beforehand.

How do I choose between options?

We set out what each option involves, how long it lasts and what it costs, and we tell you which we would recommend and why. The decision is yours.

How much do the different options cost?

Fees depend on the work required. You receive a written, itemised quote before any treatment begins.

What happens at an assessment?

We examine your teeth, gums and jaw, take in-mouth x-rays and build a treatment plan. Learn what happens at your new patient consultation and how to book.

Is it too late to fix my teeth if I have bone loss?

Rarely. We treat patients who have been away from the dentist for years and patients with significant bone loss. Because the practice is led by a specialist periodontist, gum and bone problems are assessed in-house before any restorative work is planned.

Can general dentistry improve the appearance of my smile?

Yes. Professional cleaning removes staining from coffee, tea and smoking, and tooth-coloured fillings and ceramic crowns are matched to your natural teeth.

How do you handle dental anxiety?

We work at your pace, explain each step before it happens and stop if you need a break. Sedation options are available for patients who need them.

What are the risks?

Every clinical procedure carries some risk. We go through the risks that apply to your treatment at the consultation and give you written aftercare instructions.

Can I switch from NHS to private general dentistry?

Yes. You do not need a referral, and your NHS status does not affect your care with us.

How often should I have a check-up?

It depends on your risk of decay and gum disease. Many patients are seen every six months; we recommend an interval for you at the first assessment.
