Periodontitis management in London

Periodontitis is gum disease that has reached the bone and ligament holding the teeth. Management means clearing the infection, stabilising what support remains, and keeping it that way. We assess how long your treatment will take at your first visit.

Led by Dr Ope Sodeinde.

Stopping gum disease progression

Receding gums, persistent bleeding, bad breath that does not clear, or teeth that feel slightly loose are the usual signs. We provide periodontics in London at every stage, from early gingivitis treatment to complex cases, and every plan starts with a precise diagnosis at our Primrose Hill clinic.

Non-surgical periodontal therapy is the first line: scaling and root planing to remove tartar below the gum line, and laser gum therapy (LANAP) to target the bacteria. Gum abscess drainage handles acute flare-ups. Dr Ope Sodeinde, our GDC-registered specialist periodontist, carries out the treatment.

Saving your natural teeth with periodontitis management

Bone lost to periodontitis does not grow back, so the aim is to stop the loss where it is. A periodontist stages the disease at a diagnosis-first consultation, so you receive only the care your stage needs, with an itemised breakdown of costs before anything begins.

Depending on your case, we may add antibiotic therapy, gum irrigation or desensitisation treatment to the plan. Dr Ope Sodeinde sets the route at the initial consultation.

Who can benefit from gum disease care

Anyone whose gum disease has progressed beyond gingivitis. Many people put off the first visit out of anxiety or embarrassment; the consultation is calm, and the earlier we see you the more bone can be kept.

Because every case differs, we use the consultation to work out which of the gum disease treatments: which one fits your situation. Dr Ope Sodeinde examines the supporting tissues and sets out a plan with a realistic timeline.

Periodontitis management: your path to gum health

Clinical periodontal assessment for periodontitis management

We measure the pocket depths around each tooth and review x-rays of the bone. Those findings set the extent of the infection and the plan.

Deep cleaning and root planing

We remove the bacteria and tartar trapped below the gum line by scaling and root planing, leaving a clean root surface for the gum to reattach to. We tell you beforehand how many visits it will take.

Advanced gum therapy

Pockets that stay deep after cleaning need more: laser therapy, or surgery to reduce them. If the idea of gum surgery is daunting, tell us; anaesthetic and sedation options are discussed first.

Healing and tissue response

We re-measure the pockets after healing to confirm the infection is receding and the supporting structures are stabilising.

Preventative maintenance programme

Periodontitis is chronic. To keep it from returning, you move into a maintenance programme of regular reviews and professional cleaning.

Periodontitis management: clinical expertise in gum health

Your care is led by Dr Ope Sodeinde, specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071), who examines your gums and reviews your medical history before planning treatment. The practice provides subgingival cleaning and root debridement, gingivitis treatment, gum abscess drainage, laser gum therapy, and crown lengthening where a restoration needs it.

Follow-up appointments are scheduled to check healing, and gum irrigation sessions can reduce inflammation between visits. Maintenance is what makes periodontal treatment last.

Periodontitis management: common concerns about gum treatment

How much does periodontitis management cost?

Fees depend on the severity of the infection and how many teeth are involved. We give you a precise breakdown at your initial consultation.

How long does periodontitis management take?

We set the number of appointments and the overall duration at your first visit, once the stage of disease is known.

Is periodontitis management painful?

Deep cleaning is carried out under local anaesthetic. Nobody is judged for the state of their gums.

How long does periodontitis management last?

That depends on a strict maintenance programme and your home care. We give you a structured aftercare plan to keep the disease from returning.

Your gum health assessment for periodontitis management

Treatment time and costs depend on the depth of the infection, and we settle both at your first appointment. You can see what happens at your first periodontal consultation and how to book. Dr Ope Sodeinde assesses your stage of disease and sets the plan to stop bone loss.

Further gum health support

A consultation with Dr Ope Sodeinde sets the timeline and cost for your care. Depending on the case, the plan may include:

  • Antibiotic therapy to manage persistent infection.
  • Gum irrigation to flush deep pockets.
  • Desensitisation treatment where roots have become sensitive.

Dr Ope Sodeinde provides a written plan and itemised quote at your assessment. The plan is yours to keep and take to any other practice.
