Periodontics in London

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the gums and the bone and ligament that hold teeth in place. We diagnose and treat gum disease so that natural teeth can be kept. Dr Ope Sodeinde, a GDC-registered specialist periodontist, leads the care at our Primrose Hill practice.

Why choose our gum care

Your assessment is carried out by Dr Ope Sodeinde, a GDC-registered specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071). We are a CQC-registered dental practice. Gum disease treated early is easier to control, and treating it reduces the risk of losing teeth.

We publish our fees and itemise every one before you commit, so there is no surprise at the desk. Your first appointment costs £195, and that fee goes towards your treatment.

If dental work makes you anxious, we offer sedation options and will plan around them. You can see what happens at your first periodontal consultation and how to book.

Gum disease treatment costs

We work diagnosis first, so you only pay for treatment you need. Dr Ope Sodeinde examines your gums, measures the pockets around each tooth and tells you which procedures apply to you. The consultation is £195 and is redeemable against treatment.

Payment options are available; our staff can go through them with you. For a full breakdown of our fees, see the periodontics costs page.

Specialist gum health restoration

Where possible we treat without surgery. Subgingival cleaning and root surface debridement clear bacteria and hardened deposits from below the gum line. We treat gingivitis, carry out scaling and root planing, and drain gum abscesses.

Where more is needed, we offer laser gum therapy and crown lengthening, which exposes more tooth so a restoration can fit properly.

Your care is led by Dr Ope Sodeinde, specialist periodontist (GDC No. 104071). We begin by examining your gums and reviewing your medical history. Between visits, gum irrigation can be used to reduce inflammation.

Healing depends on consistency, so we schedule follow-up appointments to check how the gum tissue is responding. This maintenance is what keeps the result.

Gum disease treatment answers

Does periodontal scaling and root planing hurt?

We numb the area with local anaesthetic before deep cleaning, and sedation is available for patients who feel anxious.

What does gum disease treatment involve?

We remove plaque and bacteria from deep within the gum pockets so the roots of the teeth are no longer under attack. A maintenance programme then follows to keep the disease from returning.

How much does gum disease treatment cost in London?

Fees depend on how far the disease has progressed and how many teeth are involved. We give you a full breakdown at your clinical assessment.

Am I suitable for gum disease treatment?

Most patients with gingivitis or periodontitis can be treated. Dr Ope Sodeinde assesses your condition and sets out the course of action that fits it.

Gum health outcomes

We focus on the clinical results that matter to you: gums that stop bleeding, pockets that shrink, teeth that stay. Consultations are unhurried, and you are given honest options rather than pressure.

We know anxiety often comes with gum treatment. Whether your concern is fees or the time treatment will take, we give you clear answers during your visit. A clinical assessment with Dr Ope Sodeinde establishes your diagnosis and the specific steps needed.

Arrange your gum health assessment

Which treatment suits you, and how long recovery takes, depends on the state of your gums and bone. We assess both at your first visit. You can arrange your assessment with the specialist periodontist to get a clear answer on your diagnosis, or call us on 020 7589 7792 if you would rather speak to the team first.

Managing gum disease and bone loss

Our aim is to preserve your natural teeth. Non-surgical periodontal therapy is the first line of treatment: scaling and root planing removes plaque and calculus from the root surfaces. Laser gum therapy and abscess drainage cover other needs, and periodontal surgery is reserved for cases that do not respond.

The plan depends on your own bone and gum condition. Dr Ope Sodeinde sets it out after examining you, so a consultation is the point at which the steps and the timeframe become clear.

Gum health restoration options

Treatment ranges from managing early inflammation to surgery. For the non-surgical stage, scaling and root planing clears plaque and calculus from beneath the gum line at our London clinic.

For the earliest signs of disease, we provide gingivitis treatment before the bone is affected. You can see gum disease treatments: which one fits your current stage.

Advanced cases may need surgery. We perform pocket reduction surgery to treat deep gum pockets, and gum grafting for recession to cover exposed roots.

Dr Ope Sodeinde explains the proposed method before anything starts. Your consultation confirms which of these procedures apply to you and how long they take.

Your path to gum health

Clinical assessment

We examine your gums, measure pocket depths and take the x-rays needed to see how much bone remains. This visit sets the plan and the timeline.

Deep cleaning

We remove plaque and tartar from beneath the gum line. We provide sedation for periodontal surgery for patients who need it.

Tissue regeneration

For advanced cases, we treat the supporting bone and ligament. This stage matters for anyone considering implants when gum disease is present.

Long-term maintenance

Dr Ope Sodeinde oversees your ongoing care. Regular reviews catch relapse early and protect your results.

Non-surgical treatment or surgery

Early gingivitis and most moderate periodontitis respond to non-surgical care such as scaling and root planing. Where pockets remain deep after cleaning, or where infection is localised, we add laser gum therapy, abscess drainage or surgery. Dr Ope Sodeinde reviews the response to each stage before recommending the next.

Maintaining your gum health

Treatment stops the damage; keeping the result depends on a specific home routine and regular reviews. Read our gum disease aftercare guide to see what that involves.

Planning your treatment

We confirm which treatment applies to you at a consultation, along with the steps and timeframe. Details of gum disease treatment costs in London are on our fees page to help you plan.
