Anatomy and Course
- The carotid sinus nerve runs downward anterior to the internal carotid artery.
- It communicates with the vagus nerve and sympathetic trunk.
- It divides in the angle of the bifurcation of the common carotid artery.

Innervation
- The carotid sinus nerve innervates the carotid body.
- It also innervates the carotid sinus.

Function
- The carotid sinus nerve conveys information from the baroreceptors of the carotid sinus, mediating blood pressure homeostasis.
- It also conveys information from the chemoreceptors of the carotid body, providing information about the partial pressures of blood oxygen and carbon dioxide.
