- Attended Royal Dental Hospital in 1934
- Studied medicine at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School and graduated in 1940
- Became an orthodontist in Middlesex County in 1940
- Joined the Institute of Dental Surgery at the Eastman Dental Hospital as Head of the Orthodontic Department in 1948
Ballard Conversion Tracing
- Described a method for studying jaw relationship in the Antero-Posterior direction in 1951
- Used the axial inclination of incisor teeth to study the relationship
- Removed influence of soft tissues and dental compensation
- Permitted adjustment to the inclination of maxillary and mandibular incisors to their normal value
- Used incisor overjet as an indicator of the relative position of the maxilla to the mandible
Recognition
- Served as President of BSSO in 1957
- Received the Colyer Gold Medal from the Royal Dental Surgeon
- Recognised as a key figure in the history of orthodontics by the British Orthodontic Society

Clifford Ballard (26 June 1910 – 16 July 1997) was a British orthodontist. He became England's first Professor of Orthodontics in 1956. He served as the President of BSSO in 1957.
