History and Background
- The association began as the Dental Technicians Education and Training Advisory Board (DTETAB) established by the General Dental Council (GDC).
- DTETAB reviewed and made recommendations about dental technicians' education and training, as well as the suitability of the training for providing dental services.
- DTETAB maintained a Voluntary Register of Dental Technicians, which served as the precursor to the GDC statutory register.
- In 1986, the inaugural meeting of the Board took place, chaired by Margaret Seward.
- DTETAB became an independent professional body in 1989 with Colin Lee as chairman.

- Rebecca Kinahan is the Operations Co-ordinator responsible for managing the Associations office.
- Rebecca Kinahan also serves as the first point of contact for members.
