- The Korn lip bumper is a maxillary lip bumper developed by Korn and Shapiro.
- It is made up of .040in stainless steel wire and involves multiple loops.
- This lip bumper sits high in the maxillary vestibule and 2-3mm away from the attached gingiva.
- It is often used with a bite plate.

Advances in Lip Bumpers
- Lip bumpers can now be used with mini-screws for distalization of the upper back teeth.
- This allows for more controlled movement of the teeth.
- The wire of the lip bumper is kept 1.5 - 2.0mm from the front surface of the anterior teeth.
- The use of lip bumpers with mini-screws has shown promising results in orthodontic treatment.
- Flexible lip bumpers have also been developed for arch development.
