Signs and Symptoms
- Similar to other malignant salivary gland tumors
- Preceded by a long-standing mass
- Mass does not appear to be growing
- Rapid growth
- Facial weakness (due to facial nerve compression)
- Pain
- Skin ulceration
- Fixation of the mastoid tip
- Paresthesias

Diagnosis
- Diagnosed by examining under the microscope
- Consideration of individual history
- In 75% of cases, it arises in a pleomorphic adenoma
- In 25% of cases, it is diagnosed based on the presence of a carcinoma and history of pleomorphic adenoma

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (ca ex PA) is a type of cancer typically found in the parotid gland. It arises from the benign tumour pleomorphic adenoma.
