Types of Dental Implants in London

Implant types differ in how many posts are placed, where they sit in the jaw, and what they carry. Which one suits you depends on how many teeth are missing and how much bone you have. This page sets out every option we place so you can see where your case fits.

Putting off a visit because of anxiety or discomfort is common. Our first step is a diagnosis-first consultation: there is no obligation to proceed and no decision has to be made at that appointment.

The four restorations we place most

The method follows the size of the gap. For one tooth, or a few teeth in a row, we place single and multiple tooth implants. Each implant carries its own crown, so the neighbouring healthy teeth are left untouched.

For a larger gap, we use implant-supported bridges. Two or more implants carry a bridge that replaces several teeth, without a post for every gap.

Some patients want teeth to wear on the day of surgery. We offer same-day dental implants, where a provisional restoration is fitted at placement. Dr Ope Sodeinde assesses your bone density to decide whether this is a safe path for you.

For a whole upper or lower arch, we place All-on-4 full-arch implants: four angled implants supporting a complete fixed set of teeth, for patients with total or near-total tooth loss in that jaw.

Questions patients ask about implant types

What types of dental implant are there?

They range from a single post with a crown, to bridges on two or more implants, to full-arch restorations on four or more. You can view our implant options to see which fits your needs. Dr Ope Sodeinde, specialist in periodontics (GDC No. 104071), leads the clinical planning.

Which dental implant option is right for me?

That depends on your jaw anatomy and what you want the result to do. We settle it at the initial assessment using in-mouth x-rays, so the plan matches your bone rather than a general template. See our implant pricing.

How do I choose between dental implant options?

We diagnose first and recommend second. You leave with a written plan and an itemised quote, both yours to keep whether or not you proceed, so you can compare options without pressure.

How much do the different dental implant options cost?

Cost rises with the number of implants and the type of restoration on top. The consultation is £195, credited towards any treatment you start with us, and you receive a fixed, itemised quote before any work begins.

What happens at a dental implant assessment?

We carry out a clinical examination and take in-mouth x-rays to measure your bone levels, then write a treatment plan setting out the number of visits and the costs for your case. A second appointment to ask questions is complimentary. Book your clinical assessment.

Can I get implants if I have bone loss?

Bone loss narrows the options but rarely ends them. Imaging tells us whether grafting can rebuild enough bone for a stable implant. Check your suitability here.

How painful is getting a dental implant?

Every placement is done under local anaesthetic. If you are anxious, sedation is available for the surgery.

What if I had implants placed abroad and they failed?

We see this regularly and can assess and treat implants placed elsewhere. For implants we place, we offer a 10-year implant warranty subject to its written conditions, which is a commitment about specified implant-related costs, not a promise of clinical success.

What are the risks of implant failure?

When an implant fails, the cause is usually identifiable: infection around the implant, insufficient bone, or overloading. We reduce the risk through specialist placement and a fixed review schedule after fitting.

How many visits are required for implants?

It varies by case. Your written plan gives a realistic range of visits for your jaw, so there are no surprises later. Request your written plan.

Every implant type we place

The right restoration depends on your jawbone density and the number of teeth you need to replace. We use the initial consultation to match the method to your anatomy.

Full arch and multi-tooth restoration

Immediate and specialist placement

Advanced structural support

Surgical enabling procedures

We use 3D imaging to assess your bone and decide which of these options is right for you, so the plan is accurate from the start.
